Hopetoun House
A short trip from Edinburgh to South Queensferry finds you in the 18th century splendour of Hopetoun House – one of Scotland’s finest stately homes. Our café here (open from April – September) is in the less formal surroundings of the stables and courtyard, but one that was designed by Robert Adams himself (even the horses were treated to elegant architecture in the Georgian era it seems).
If it’s a traditional afternoon tea you’re looking for, the Stables Tearoom version is quite simply heaven-on-a-cake-stand, with bijou gourmet sandwiches, outstanding scones, clotted cream, Hopetoun Farm shop jam and a plethora of sweet treats which are always changing, so there’s plenty of variety for our afternoon tea regulars. And of course, proper loose leaf tea.
